The Internet Is Going Crazy Over This Teen 'Mean Girls' Look-Alike
The 16-year-old was the runner up for 2018 Teen Miss Namibia.
Social media is convinced that a Namibian teen looks exactly like Regina George from the hit 2004 film "Mean Girls."
Afterbreak Magazine, a Namibian digital magazine, posted a photo of 16-year-old model, Clarisse Muller, to their Twitter page and comments about the teen bearing a striking resemblance to the character, who was played by Rachel McAdams, began pouring in.
“So you’re telling me this isn’t Regina George?” one user wrote.
The magazine's tweet has been liked nearly 400,000 times. All of the attention caused their site to temporarily shut down.
“Due to the attention and engagement we have received on Twitter leading us to thousands of hits on our website, it has crashed,” the magazine said in a statement. "We are resolving this issue as quickly as we can. Thanks you for your patience.”
Muller, who was the first runner up for Miss Teen Namibia this year, told BuzzFeed that prior to the photo being posted, no one had ever mentioned the resemblance.
She said initially thought all of the attention “was weird” but now she thinks it’s fun.
Earlier this year, a California teen, April Turner, sparked a social media frenzy when others claimed her yearbook portrait looked exactly like Regina George as well.
