Theme Park Ride Snaps Midair and Plunges to the Ground in India
Two people were killed in the horrific incident.
A terrifying moment was caught on camera when a pendulum theme park ride snapped in two and plunged to the ground, killing two people.
The ride at the Balvatika amusement park in Ahmedabad in Gujarat, India, was carrying dozens of people on Sunday afternoon when the metal arm broke off and plummeted to the ground.
Onlookers rushed to help people trapped in their seats, and footage shared by SWNS shows the chaos as riders try to break free.
Two people were killed instantly, according to SWNS, and at least 29 others were injured and rushed to hospital.
"The injured are still being treated because the surgeons were pressed into action with the immediate flow of patients," a local source said.
"Home Minister Pradip Sinh Jadeja also visited the injured at the hospital and are in constant touch with the doctors to keep an eye on the update of the patients."
Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation will pay for the injured to be treated, The Indian Express reported. The incident is under investigation and the ride's maintenance records are being reviewed.
