The baby was only hours old when a passerby heard her crying.
An abandoned newborn was found crying in the woods by a Maryland man who was out for a walk, authorities said.
The naked infant was just hours old when the man discovered her in Silver Spring, according to Montgomery County Police. The good Samaritan heard the wailing child and went to investigate.
He stayed with her until police arrived Friday night, officials said.
The baby's mother was found over the weekend, and is receiving medical treatment at a hospital, police said. The child is in stable condition.
No further information was released by authorities.
