Wendy Williams Blames Painkillers for Slurred Speech on Show
Wendy Williams explained that she's been on painkillers after suffering a hairline fracture.
Wendy Williams is apologizing after a bizarre show this week in which she was slurring her words.
It was clear Williams was struggling during Thursday’s show, as she repeatedly opened her eyes very wide and seemed to have trouble speaking.
She posted a message on Instagram explaining that pain pills are to blame.
"I have a hairline fracture on my upper arm. I've never taken a pain medication in my life until this week,” she said.
This isn't her first health problem to be played out on live TV; in 2017, she fainted on air on Halloween.
This time, Williams said she wanted to push through for her fans but now wishes she had used better judgment.
"I promise you a better Wendy in 2019. I will get some much needed rest and healing over these next couple of weeks. Sorry again. I love you all. Happy holidays!" she added in her message.
