In audio obtained by Page Six, West can be heard screaming at production staff minutes before he was set perform. He was reportedly upset that stage hands removed the shiny floor from the set because it was reflecting too much light from his video screen.
In the leaked audio, the “All of the Lights” rapper said: “Look at that s***! They took my f*****g stage off'a SNL without asking me. I am bummed … If I am going to do this, we are breaking the mother*****g Internet.”
West, who released his new album, The Life of Pablo, a day earlier, claimed he was “50 percent more influential than any other human being.... By 50 percent, dead or alive, by 50 percent for the next thousand years.”
He even compared himself to St. Paul the Apostle, acclaimed director Stanley Kubrick, as well as artist Pablo Picasso.
It took SNL honcho Lorne Michaels to convince Kanye to stay and perform on the show.
A source told Page Six: “It was like he was having an emotional breakdown. He was calling the crew ‘white mother*****s’."
A rep for Kanye told Page Six that he denied calling the crew “white mother*****s.” The term is also not on the leaked recording.
Taylor Swift, with whom West had been feuding, was also blasted. He called her a “fake ass” after she denied his claims that he made her famous.
One song from his new album contains the line: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/ I made that b**** famous.”
She said: “There are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame … But if you just focus on the work and you don’t let those people sidetrack you … you will know that it was you and the people who love you who put you there.”
Kanye was photographed leaving LAX on Tuesday and was asked by photographers: “Kanye, do you have anything to say to Taylor Swift?”
He responded: “No.”
He was also asked: “Do you think Taylor Swift is obnoxious?”
“All positive vibes,” he replied.
