Josh Sundquist lost his leg to cancer when he was nine. Now 31, the self-proclaimed “Halloween enthusiast” will be the sign of the famous pancake chain. Funny enough, he doesn’t even eat there.

“IHOP neither paid me nor were they were aware I was making this costume,” he writes on his website. “I don’t even eat there (no gluten free pancakes). I do, however, applaud their support of Childrens Miracle Network Hospitals.”
The Paralympic skier has found creative ways to use his disability to his advantage by crafting very unique Halloween costumes over the years.
Over the years he has been the Gingerbread man from Shrek, the Leg Lamp from A Christmas Story, a Flamingo and a Foosball Player.

On his website he writes: “I’ve always dealt with the social discomfort of my disability by having a sense of humor. But I used to be much more self-conscious.”
It takes months of planning to generate the ideas for the special costumes and then eventually hard work for them to be executed.
“They are a joint-taskforce creation between my assistant Lisa and me,” he said on his site. “We toss around ideas for a few months about different costumes and how they could be constructed. She does all the heavy-crafting. She’s a licensed carpenter, among many other talents.”

Sundquist is a Renaissance man, as a motivational speaker, author and athlete; this cancer survivor lives every day to the fullest.
