Cops: Man Attacks Clerk and Police Officer After Flunking His Driving Test
Man hurls himself over counter, threatens clerk, then attacks police after he flunks his driver's test, cops say.
You could call it a case of off-road rage.
A Michigan man livid over flunking his driving test – twice in one day – attacked the clerk who failed him and then choked an officer who had arrested him, police said.
Brandon John Boles, 22, pleaded not guilty to two felony counts of assaulting a police officer and is being held in lieu of $50,000 cash bail at the Oakland County Jail, Troy Police Capt. Bob Redmond told INSIDE EDITION.
Boles had failed his first attempt at the written test, but was given a second chance right away, Redmond said. While completing that exam, a clerk saw him talking on his cell phone, which is forbidden while taking the test.
The clerk called him to the counter and told him that using his phone constituted an automatic fail, Redmond said.
Enraged, Boles “hurled himself over the counter” and began screaming and threatening the clerk, police said. He threw the test and his pencil at her and said he would kill her, according to police.
“He scared the hell out of her,” Redmond said.
As he jumped back over the counter, police arrived and took Boles into custody, Redmond said.
While he was being transferred to county jail with his hands cuffed in front, Boles managed to get his arms over an officer’s head and began choking him with his handcuffs, according to police.
A female officer intervened, and suffered an arm injury, Redmond said.
Officers and Sheriff’s deputies subdued Boles and he was taken to a cell, Redmond said.
His next court appearance will be next month, police said.
