She was joined on stage by her pregnant daughter, Chelsea, and husband, President Bill Clinton.

“Thank you for this milestone,” she told the roaring room of supporters. “This is the first time in our nation’s history that a woman will be a major party nominee for president!”

The former Secretary of State also spoke about her Democratic rival, Bernie Sanders, and how she now wants to unify the party.

“Let there be no mistake,’’ she said. “Senator Sanders, his campaign, and the vigorous debate that we’ve had about how to raise incomes, reduce inequality, increase upward mobility have been very good for the Democratic Party and for America.’’

Sanders told supporters in California he's still not ready to give up the fight and pledges to stay in the race.

"Next Tuesday we continue the fight," he said. "We are going to fight hard to win the primary in Washington, D.C., and then we take our fight for social, economic, racial and environmental justice to Philadelphia. The struggle continues."

He added: "Our vision will be the future of America!"

Donald Trump celebrated his wins at his country club in Westchester County. He was flanked by wife, Melania, and daughter, Ivanka.

“Tonight, we close one chapter in history and begin another... You’ve given me the honor to lead the Republican Party to victory this fall. I understand the responsibility of carrying this mantle, and I will never let you down. I will make you proud of your party — and our movement,” he said.

Tuesday night's speech was one of the rare times Trump has used a teleprompter. In the past, he has mocked other politicians for using one.

Hillary Clinton made a speech today using the biggest teleprompter I have ever seen. In fact, it wasn't even see through glass, it was black

Hillary said such nasty things about me, read directly off her teleprompter...but there was no emotion, no truth. Just can't read speeches!

Bad performance by Crooked Hillary Clinton! Reading poorly from the telepromter! She doesn't even look presidential!

The podium in the Oval Office looks odd! Not good, but the words will be the key.

"@JFK4701: @realDonaldTrump he is reading off the TelePrompTer." But that is O.K. in this case.
