Hope Solo Booed, Heckled Over Photo Showing Her Arsenal of Anti-Mosquito Repellant

Soccer star Hope Solo was taunted by thousands of Brazilian fans when she took the field for Team USA's first Olympic match against New Zealand.

The jeers came in response to photos Solo tweeted, showcasing an arsenal of anti-mosquito repellant she brought to Rio to protect herself from the Zika virus.
The goalkeeper has been very vocal about her concerns over Zika. In May, she told CNBC that once she gets to Rio: "I’m not sure I’m even going to be leaving the hotel room outside of practice."
The crowd inside the stadium in nearby city Belo Horizonte booed her or chanted “Zika! Zika” nearly every time she touched the ball during Wednesday’s game.
Following the game, the 35-year-old World Cup winner told reporters: “I'm glad the fans had fun, and if they had fun at my expense, more power to them.''

Zika concerns have plagued the country ahead of the games, causing many high profile athletes to skip the Olympics in Rio altogether.
American cyclist Tejay van Garderen, Irish golfer Rory McIlroy and Australian golfer Jason Day pulled out of the games. Even Today show host Savannah Guthrie said she would not be covering the games for NBC as she announced she was pregnant.
