2 Workers Left Dangling After Scaffolding Collapse Saved in High-Flying Rescue
A ladder truck helped save the men.
Two workers in Florida were rescued Tuesday morning after the scaffolding they were working on collapsed.
The men were left dangling, and can be seen in a heart-thumping video as they awaited rescue from the side of a building in Palmetto Bay.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue had to scale the structure to reach each worker before moving them to a cherry picker waiting below, WSVN reports.
The men were dangling for over an hour, per reports. One of them even had time to answer a call on his cellphone.
Both workers made it safely to the ground thanks to the efforts of the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Technical Team.
"We bring our equipment, this is what we do, what we train for on a regular basis," said Miami-Dade firefighter-paramedic Maggie Castro, who led the effort. “We train for this kind of scenario all of the time. So we were ready and prepared to do the job that we needed to do. Soon as we got here, we prepared all of our rope systems and over the edge we went."
Both men appeared to be all right after making it back to the ground. The cause of the scaffolding failure will now be investigated.
