A Texas man has sued a woman for texting during 'Guardians of the Galaxy'
A Texas man has sued a woman for sending texts during a movie on their first date.
Brandon Vezmar, 37, is asking for $17.31, the cost of a ticket he bought to a 3D showing of “Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2,” according to local media reports.

The 35-year-old woman, contacted by the Austin American-Statesman, was not aware of the claim.
“Oh, my God,” she told the paper. “This is crazy.” She asked that her name not be used.
Vezmar owns a communications consulting company. He said he met the woman online and they went to the movie on May 6.
“It was kind of a first date from hell,” he told the paper. His date began texting about 15 minutes into the film, he said. “This is like one of my biggest peeves.”
Vezmar said he asked her to stop, but she didn’t. When he told her she should go outside to text, he said, she left and didn’t come back.

The two had traveled in her car, Vezmar said, so he was stranded at the theater.
She said Vezmar called and asked to be reimbursed, but she refused.
She sent only a few texts, she said, to a friend who was upset over breaking up with her boyfriend.
The petition filed in small claims court says the woman violated theater policy by texting and “adversely” affected his enjoyment of the film.
It also called her actions “a threat to civilized society.”
