Get ready to feel the need — the need for speed — again, as Tom Cruise has confirmed Top Gun 2 is going to happen.
Cruise addressed the long-rumored sequel during an interview with Australian morning TV show, Sunrise.
He said the movie will begin filming sometime next year.
Top Gun, which starred Val Kilmer, Anthony Edwards and Kelly McGillis, made Cruise a household name when it was released 31 years ago.
In January, Top Gun producer Jerry Bruckheimer teased fans on Twitter after posting a photo with him and Cruise saying they discussed the idea of a sequel to the film about fighter pilots in an elite training program.
The classic film grossed more than $356 million worldwide when it was released in 1986.
