Young Fisherman Reels in Woman's Purse 25 Years After it Vanished
"I ain't got no fish!" the boy said when he pulled up April Bolt's purse.
Brodie Brooks was convinced he'd caught a giant fish when his line snagged on something heavy in Anderson, S.C, last week.
But the 11-year-old had actually made a far rarer catch: a woman's purse, which had been missing for 25 years.
“I felt that I really had a fish,” Brodie told InsideEdition.com. “But then when I got it up to the surface, I was like, 'I ain’t got no fish.'”
Brooks and fellow fishermen aboard the boat opened the purse to check for identification and were surprised to discover it had once belonged to a friend, April Bolt.
Bolt was even more shocked when she found out that her long-lost purse had been found.

“I was in total disbelief. I couldn’t believe it,” she told InsideEdition.com. “After 25 years, what are the chances of getting the purse back?”
Bolt said she'd left the purse on a boat in 1992. It was filled with credit cards, makeup, pictures and even her laminated high school diploma. Despite being submerged in Lake Hartwell for more than two decades, all the items remained intact.
“To a lot of people this is just a muddy mess," Bolt said. "But to me, it’s precious to have all my belongings back, especially the pictures.”

The small photographs capture Bolt’s son at the age of 15 months. He's now 26 years old.
Incredibly, even Bolt’s favorite lipstick remained in perfect condition.
“I never thought in a million years I’d get it back," she said. "But you know, it’s just that lucky chance."
