Behind the Scenes at the SAG Awards
The SAG awards had many highlights, but none more touching than Mary Tyler Moore receiving the Life Achievement award from her former co-star Dick Van Dyke. INSIDE EDITION reports from the red carpet on all the highlights.
It was a special night for Mary Tyler Moore who took home a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Screen Actors Guild in Hollywood.
The ailing but still lovely 75-year-old actress, who suffers from diabetes and had brain surgery on a benign tumor last summer, got the biggest standing ovation of the night.
She looked frail, and her hands shook as she gave her acceptance speech.
At the end, Moore seemed confused her speech was over. Her good friend Dick Van Dyke walked over to give her a reassuring kiss and a supportive arm.
INSIDE EDITION's Jim Moret asked Van Dyke, "How special is it for you to be giving this award to Mary Tyler Moore?"
"So special. I didn't realize the recipient gets to pick the person who presents. I said, 'If you hadn't picked me I would have never spoken to you again,' " joked Van Dyke.
Moore's moving acceptance speech was all the talk backstage.
Jessica Lange told INSIDE EDITION, "I'm always so moved when I see actors who have been in this business for decades and who have such elegance and grace."
Modern Family's Eric Stonestreet told INSIDE EDITION, "To be in the same room with Mary Tyler Moore is a great accomplishment that I think most people would be proud of."
And talk about star power. The world's most glamorous couple owned the red carpet. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt took their time posing for photographers, enjoying the moment.
Jolie looked stunning and sophisticated in a black Grecian-inspired dress that showed off her tattoos. Pitt put a protective arm around Jolie, and gave her a kiss that looked like something you'd see in a movie.
Stacey Keibler also dazzled in black. But her date night with boyfriend George Clooney had one moment of a big dating no-no. He ditched his date to go sign autographs. As the signing went on and on Keibler looked alone and upset. But she pulled herself together and all seemed well when they posed for a photo with Pitt and Jolie.
Fashion expert Vivianna Vigil told INSIDE EDITION, "Stacey Keibler is looking better and better at each red carpet. She wore black lace, a very fitted gown. I wish I could borrow it!"
Sophia Vergara was drop dead gorgeous in a raspberry pink Marchesa gown that hugged all her curves.
And Glee's Lea Michelle was a show-stopper in a pale grey gown with a thigh-high split. She apparently didn't think that slit was high enough so she pulled the slit open to show off even more leg for photographers.
Inside it was a night of upsets. French actor Jean Dujardin took home the Best Actor award for The Artist, beating out America's top two leading men, George Clooney and Brad Pitt.
And it was Viola Davis as Best Actress, winning over Meryl Streep, for her role in The Help.
Backstage Davis told INSIDE EDITION's Jim Moret, "I still can't believe it. Once again, I was prepping my loser face. And I was thinking, 'What does a loser face look like? Whatever a loser face looks like, she's got to be smiling.' "
Davis's co-star, Octavia Spencer also won for Best Supporting Actress. Backstage she revealed that she's struggling with her weight.
"I'm not healthy at this weight. I think that any time you have too much around the middle, there's a problem," said Spencer.
Speaking of actors struggling with their weight, 30 Rock's Alec Baldwin revealed he's dropped 30 pounds after being diagnosed as pre-diabetic. Baldwin seemed in good cheer when he won for Best Actor in a TV comedy for 30 Rock.
