Late Night Comics Blast BP with Sarcasm

It's just the latest spoof flooding the internet, attacking embattled BP with sarcasm and complete mockery. Comics playing a bunch of BP executives try to contain a spill of coffee, and make a real mess of it.

"Don't worry about it. It's a small spill on a large table," says one comic playing a BP executive.

"It's encroaching on my map of Lousiana. The laptop," says another comic.

"We are really screwed now," says one comic. 

Another comic at the board room table empties a trash can on the table and says, "Look, garbage will fall into the coffe cups, stopping further spillage."

"Now there's just coffee and garbage," says another comic.

And here's a fake ad from the Second City comedy team. It's dripping with sarcasm.

One actor wipes her brow with her arm covered in oil and says, "Every choice we make affects the environment." 

Another actor says, "Are our fuels as clean as possible? Is our coal as clean as possible?" as black oil is being poured over his head.

John Frusciante co-wrote that coffee spill sketch for the Upright Citizens Brigade. Frusciante says, "This is absolutely what we as comedy writers and comics are supposed to do. We're making fun of the BP executives. We're not making fun of the people of Louisianna. We're not saying, 'Ha ha ha, this tragedy happened.' "

Stephen Colbert said on his show, The Colbert Report, "I am drawing a line in the sand, in the black flammable sand."

And you can always count on the late night comics to find humor in any situation, even the worst environmental disaster in U.S. history.

David Letterman said on his show, "Let's take a look now from the bottom of Gulf of Mexico, the ocean floor, let's see what's going on," then cuts to animation of oil flowing underwater like the fountains at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas.

Jay Leno said, "I saw these pictures of these birds completely covered in oil, and then I realized it was just an ad for Kentucky Fried Chicken."
