Valerie Bertinelli Talks Weight Gain
Valerie Bertinelli went on The Talk to discuss her recent weight gain after shedding 40 pounds on Jenny Craig. INSIDE EDITION has more.
Valerie Bertinelli tells the ladies of The Talk how upset she is at having gained some weight back after losing 40 pounds for her now famous Jenny Craig commercial in a bikini.
Bertinell said, "I broke my foot three months ago and I've not been able to work out, the weight starts to creep up a little bit more and then I started thinking, why do I feel so much shame?"
Unflattering photos of Bertinelli appeared on this week's National Enquirer with the headline, "Packs on 50 lbs." It shows then and now shots of Bertinelli.
Last week, following an appearance on the Wendy Williams Show, one gossip website wrote Bertinelli's weight gain was "obvious."
Bertinelli said, "I have gained a few pounds since I broke my foot and it started to panic me at a certain point, and I thought now wait a minute. This is my body. I'm almost 54. I broke my foot. I haven't been able to move. My doctor even said do not get your heart rate up. So, I couldn't do anything. But now, I'm back in the gym and I'm ready to go!"
She says she's coming forward to help women let go of the shame they may feel about gaining weight, saying, "I think we all need to give each other a break! Especially women!"
Meanwhile, the winner of this season's The Biggest Loser says she's happier today after having gained 20 pounds. Rachel Frederickson came in for some heat after looking rail thin on the show's finale back in February.
At 5-foot-4 she weighed just 105 pounds and looked scary skinny. There were even concerns about the state of her health. But today, she's up to a healthy 125 pounds and tells the latest issue of US Weekly, "I'm at my perfect weight!"
