Alleged Victims of R. Kelly Applaud Lady Gaga's Apology: 'That Was Really Powerful of Her'

Lady Gaga called the allegations against R. Kelly "absolutely horrible and indefensible."

Two of the women who appeared in the Lifetime docuseries, “Surviving R. Kelly,” told Inside Edition they aren't surprised the singer continues to operate like it's business as usual.

"I saw a demon," Asante McGee said. "Just being able to be in the presence of that demon was horrifying. He believes he is untouchable."

McGee, who says she was held captive by Kelly, spoke to Inside Edition with another alleged victim, Lizzette Martinez.

"I felt like a prisoner and I felt like a sex slave and just horrible," Martinez said. "I couldn’t look at myself in the mirror."

"He believes he can get away with anything," she added.

Martinez says that the series is "so powerful" because "you are seeing, you are hearing, we are crying."

In the wake of the documentary's release, Lady Gaga apologized for working with R. Kelly.

"What I am hearing about the allegations against R. Kelly is absolutely horrible and indefensible,” she said in a statement. “I stand by these women 1,000 percent, believe them, know they are suffering and in pain, and feel strongly that their voices should be heard and taken seriously.”

Gaga, who collaborated with Kelly on the hit single, “Do What U Want (With My Body),” says she is pulling the song from streaming services. Gaga and Kelly made various TV appearances together promoting the single in 2013.

"I’m sorry, both for my poor judgment when I was young, and for not speaking out sooner,” Gaga added in her statement. “As a victim of sexual assault myself, I made both the song and the video at a dark time in my life."

McGee and Martinez praised Gaga for the support.

"I actually smiled, I was like, 'thank you!'" McGee said.

"That was really powerful of her," Martinez added.

Both women feel R. Kelly will face the music.

"I definitely believe he will face the music. His time is up," McGee said.

R. Kelly seems unfazed by the controversy generated by the docuseries. On Wednesday night he celebrated his 52nd birthday at a club in Chicago.

"I don't give a f*** what's going on tonight,” he told the crowd.

At one point cops were called after someone called in the singer’s location. Cops did talk to the singer but no arrest was made.

R. Kelly has denied all the allegations of physical abuse, emotional abuse, and sexual misconduct.
