Brave Beagle Helps Lead Woman to Nearly $30,000 Lotto Jackpot Win

Her husband won more than $700 in the same game.
A Maryland woman has a loyal beagle to thank for helping her win $29,295.70 in the state’s lottery.
The 63-year-old woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, said she was getting ready to leave her home in Upper Marlboro to play Maryland Lottery's Racetrax virtual horse racing game last Monday, but as she was leaving her house, a snake was at her door and she ran back inside.
"The snake scared me back in," the woman said at a press conference Tuesday.
She said she stayed inside an extra hour before her dog, Buddy, scared the snake away.
It was then she was able to leave her home and make her way to Marlboro Country Liquors, where she played the game using the lucky numbers 8, 9, 10 and 12.
She walked away with $29,295.70 in earnings after taxes and had the massive check made out to "Buddy the Beagle."
Her husband also won in the game that day but only took home $724.20.
