Cardi B Criticized After She Said She Drugged and Robbed Men in Old Video

In the video, the Grammy award winner said she used to strip and take men to hotels where she’d proceed to “drug [them] up” and “rob them.”

Rapper Cardi B is in hot water after a livestream from years ago surfaced.

In the video, the Grammy award winner said she used to strip and take men to hotels where she’d proceed to “drug [them] up” and “rob them.”

“That’s what I used to do,” Cardi said in the video, which is three years old, as she gets emotional. “Nothing was … handed to me.”

By Tuesday, #SurvivingCardiB was trending on Twitter, playing off “Surviving R. Kelly,” a docu-series that highlights years of sexual abuse allegedly committed by R. Kelly.

When the video first came to light, Cardi tweeted, “I never claim to be an angel, I always been a street b****. Ya be glorifying this street rappers that talk and do that grimy street s*** but they can’t stand a street b****!

Cardi has since released a statement clarifying that she's not glorifying what she did.

“I made the choices that I did at the time because I had very limited options,” the rapper said. “I was blessed to be able to rise from that but so many have not. Whether or not they were poor choices at the time I did what I had to do to survive.”

She also claimed the men she spoke about “drugging” were men she dated and claimed they were “conscious, willing and aware.”

Some people are still not convinced by her explanation.

“How are you not in jail? You drugged and robbed people,” one Twitter user wrote.

Others came to Cardi's defense.

“Industry Double standards. Y’all know how many male rappers talk about the same shit and worse everyday. Stop it #SurvivingCardiB.”
