13-year-old Rebecca Black is the internet's newest celebrity after she posted a music video on YouTube that quickly racked up over 16 million views. But the comments many viewers are leaving are not kind. INSIDE EDITION has the latest.
The song is called "Friday," and the singer is 13-year-old Rebecca Black of Anaheim Hills, California. So far, her music video has been watched more than 16 million times on YouTube and counting, but many of the comments left by users are downright cruel.
The song's silly lyrics chart the singer's mundane activities from morning to night.
Rolling Stone called it "An unintentional parody of modern day pop."
The comments posted online are much harsher.
"Her song 'Friday' is the worst song I've ever heard in my life. Even deaf people are complaining," wrote one viewer.
"When I first saw all the nasty comments, I did cry," Black said on Good Morning America.
She shared the most painful comment of all with GMA:
"I hope you cut yourself, and I hope you get an eating disorder so you'll look pretty."
Meanwhile, "Friday" has already inspired a rash of parody videos!
Ethan Newberry sings a version he calls "Saturday," and says, "The original video was so bad and my goal was to make one worse, and I think I accomplished that."
When radio station 99.5 in Washington D.C. asked Chris Brown what he thought of the song, he said, "I actually liked it!"
That's one vote of confidence for the girl who just wants to sing.
