Is Matt Lauer Also Planning to Leave Today?

Is Matt Lauer also planning to leave the Today show when his contract ends? On the heels of the news that co-host Meredith Vieira may leave Today and former co-host Katie Couric may leave CBS News, the rumors are flying about Lauer&#3

Is Matt Lauer joining Meredith Vieira in a big exit from the Today show?

According to reports, Lauer has already notified his bosses at NBC that he plans to leave when his contract is up at the end of 2012, setting the stage for a massive shake-up at the top-rated morning show.

"Matt loves the job, he gets paid handsomely, but you're talking about getting up every day before the sun rises, it's a grind," explains TV Guide Business Editor Stephen Battaglio.

In a statement, NBC stayed mum on the subject: "There seems to be an awful lot of speculation around news anchors these days, and it's not our practice to comment on any of it. Matt Lauer has a long term contract with 'NBC News' and 'Today.' "

And Glenn Beck spoke out about ending his Fox News Channel show, in his trademark style.

He said, "I am going to leave this program later this year. There is much more important news than 'What's the big fat chunky guy on TV going to do in his future?' "

INSIDE EDITION viewers are weighing in on Beck's departure on our Facebook page, and the reactions are mixed:

"I always liked the Glenn Beck show. He just tells it the way it is," says Teresa.

But Molly writes, "About time...that guy was off his rocker."

So, was Beck fired? Or did he leave voluntarily?

Fox News CEO Roger Ailes was ambiguous. "Half of the headlines say he's been canceled. The other half say he quit. We're pretty happy with both of them."
