The 43-year-old actress decided it was time to be more than just friends with boyfriend, Justin Theroux. The actor popped the question on his 41st birthday. The couple started dating more than a year ago after working together on the comedy, Wanderlust.
Aniston let Theroux make the announcement, with his spokesman telling People magazine, "Justin Theroux had an amazing birthday on Friday, receiving an extraordinary gift when his girlfriend, Jennifer Aniston, accepted his proposal of marriage."
Senior Editor of People magazine, Michelle Tan, told INSIDE EDITION "Justin Theroux said he had one of the best birthdays, only because the icing on the cake was that Jennifer Aniston agreed to marry him."
The happy news came on the same weekend that Aniston's ex-husband, Brad Pitt, was rumored to be tying the knot with Angelina Jolie at their chateau in France. Apparently, that didn't happen.
The news came as a bit of a surprise to Aniston's dad, soap opera actor, John Aniston. He learned about his daughter's engagement from the celebrity website, Celebuzz.com.
The website quoted him as saying, "It's a surprise to me. I'll have to look online. When I find out more, I guess I'll tell you!"
Ironically, the news comes as newsstands across America are selling this cover of the latest Star magazine, proclaiming "It's Over." They sure didn't get that one right.
Tan said, "Jennifer Aniston has only talked about how lucky she feels to have Justin in her life. She only uses words like 'happy,' 'joyful,' she said she is in a peaceful place in her life."
