Is Jesus Too Sexy In 'Son of God?'

While Son of God does wonders at the box office, many are asking if the actor playing Jesus is too sexy. INSIDE EDITION takes a look.

Son of God is a box office sensation, but the portrayal of Jesus is making some of the faithful a little uncomfortable—They say Jesus is too hot.

Whoopi Goldberg said on The View, "Fans can't seem to stop talking about how fly he is! He is just so sexy!"

The actor who plays Jesus, Diogo Morgado, is smoldering with long flowing locks, ripped abs and a sexy accent.

Some headlines are: "Actor Criticized For Being Too Sexy to Play Son of God," said E! Online.

"Is Jesus Christ Too Sexy in 'Son of God?'," asked ABCNews.com

There's even a Twitter hashtag, #hotjesus. One guy tweeted: "Judging from my wife's reaction I’d say looking at #hotjesus could very well be a sin!"

Going back a century, Jesus has been played by  handsome actors. Jefferey Hunter in The King of Kings, Max von Sydow in The Greatest Story Ever Told, Ted Neeley in Jesus Christ Superstar,  Jim Caviezelin The Passion of the Christ.  Now, Diogo Morgado.

But how close is it to the historic truth?

We'll never know for sure, but he may have looked like a computer model created by a group of historians using a 2,000 year old skull. Their Jesus has olive skin, severely wrinkled from sun exposure.

Because we'll never know for sure, Hollywood can get away with portraying him as a sexy savior.
