Kelsey Grammer is forgiving the man who murdered his sister, but said at a parole hearing that he opposes releasing the convict from prison. INSIDE EDITION reports.
Actor Kelsey Grammer is forgiving the convict who brutally murdered his sister.
But in a dramatic parole hearing, Kelsey says he is adamantly opposed to releasing 57-year-old Freddie Glenn who kidnapped and murdered his beloved sister, Karen, in 1975.
Kelsey said at the hearing, “I want to believe that you have actually changed you life. And I want to believe that you can find a way to become a productive citizen. Flourish.”
Kelsey Grammer, who became a sitcom star on Cheers and Frasier, joined the parole hearing in Colorado via video conference link.
After saying he forgave Glenn, he had this to say about his sister, who was 18-years-old when she was slain: “She was a wonderful, wonderful person and I miss her all the time. And I accept that you live with remorse every day of your life, but I live with tragedy.”
He confronted Glenn about his claims that he is sorry, saying, “I just want to ask you why you didn't ever try to get in touch with me if you're serious about it. I could have helped you.”
Glenn then said, “Mr. Grammer. Mr. Grammer. I have tried to contact you.”
Karen was kidnapped, raped, and stabbed to death after a robbery at a Red Lobster in Colorado Springs where she was a waitress.
The moment of forgiveness is a change of heart for Kelsey who is starting a new chapter in his life. He recently became a father for the sixth time and he has a new comedy series, Partners, about to premiere on FX.
In the past he has described Glenn as "A butcher. A monster" and he told Oprah in 2009 that his sister's murder had driven him to abuse drugs and alcohol.
Oprah asked, “Could you forgive him?”
“Maybe. It's just a maybe,” he replied.
Now, it seems he has somehow found the strength to forgive.
