Michael Strahan Blindsided by Break-Up Announcement on the Eve of Hall of Fame Induction

Michael Strahan was blindsided by his fiancée when she announced their split just before he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. INSIDE EDITION has the story.

Was Michael Strahan blindsided? The TV personality had no clue that his split with model Nicole Murphy would be announced just hours before his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Strahan showed no signs of the behind-the-scenes drama. He was all smiles during the ceremony on Saturday in Canton, Ohio.

He said at the ceremony, "This is right where I belong. I am so happy to be here with you guys."

The pair had actually ended their five year engagement a few weeks ago, but Strahan reportedly had no plans to announce the split until after his Hall of Fame induction.

People magazine Senior Editor Charlotte Triggs told INSIDE EDITION, "According to his rep, it is really just a matter of distance. She was still living on the West Coast, he had more and more responsibility here on the East Coast, and it really took a toll on their relationship."

Murphy, who has five children with ex-husband Eddie Murphy, recently posed for INSIDE EDITION for our "Models Without Makeup" segment.

The former defensive lineman for the New York Giants has four kids of his own. Rumors swirled that Murphy may have timed the announcement to sabotage his big moment.

Triggs said, "Some people are raising eyebrows at the timing. She was obviously the one to announce the split."

Obviously, Strahan didn't let the news get him down, saying, “This has been the best weekend I've ever had in my life.”
