A Maryland grandmother won over $10,000 when she played a lottery game for the first time.
A Maryland grandmother won over $10,000 when she played a lottery game for the first time.
For years, the 77-year-old woman only bought scratch-off tickets but recently the Racetrax horse-racing game caught her eye.
"I usually only play scratch-offs once or twice a week but my friends are all fans of the horses so I decided to give it a try," the woman, who chose to remain anonymous, told state lottery officials.
Turns out, beginner's luck was on her side: She won $10,410.
"I was just shocked, I couldn't believe it," she said.
She said she plans to use the money to buy holiday gifts.
