Bob Schieffer Announces Retirement from CBS News

"I couldn’t ask for a better life."

Face the Nation anchor Bob Schieffer fought back tears as he announced he's retiring after 46 years with CBS News.   

In addition to hosting Face the Nation, he is also the chief Washington correspondent for CBS News.

He told the audience, “This summer I’m going to retire.”

The veteran newsman choked up at his alma mater, Texas Christian University.

“I'm one of the luckiest people in the world because as a little boy I always wanted to be a journalist and I got to do that and not too many people get to do that. I couldn’t ask for a better life or something that was more fun and more fulfilling. I love you all,” he said.
