Former Miss USA Ali Landry’s father-in-law and brother-in-law were found dead in Mexico over the weekend, 16 days after they were kidnapped from their home, according to reports.
Juan Manuel Gomez Fernendez and his son, Juan Manuel Gomez Monteverde, had reportedly both been dead for several days when they were discovered in a rural area in Veracruz. The men had both sustained traumatic brain injuries, according to reports.
They were kidnapped as they left their home in Tampico, Tamaulipas on September 4.
According to The Latin Times, even though a ransom was paid for them, they were found in an area known for drug cartel violence.
The Veracruz Attorney General’s office said they are working with authorities to investigate the deaths.
They were the father and brother of Landry's Mexican film director husband Alejandro Gomez Monteverde.
Landry, 42, was crowned Miss USA in 1996 and married Monteverde in 2006. They have three children: Estela Inez, 8, Marcelo Alejandro, 3, and Valentin Francesco, 2.
