The Empire Strikes Back: Chewbacca Gets Arrested While Campaigning for Darth Vader

A man dressed as Star Wars' Chewbacca was arrested in Ukraine on Sunday while campaigning for Darth Vader.

The man or Wookie, depending on who you ask, was put in cuffs because it is illegal to campaign on an election day.

He even appeared in court, still in costume, and was ordered to pay a fine equivalent to $7.50, in Odessa, Ukraine, according to reports.

According to RT, the man told the media he could not pay his fine because “his funds are an intergalactic bank that has no branches on this planet."

According to reports, Darth Vader is the legal name of an Odessa mayoral candidate who is running in the Internet Party.

Darth Vader has become a popular candidate with some of the locals. On Friday, the force was awakened as a statue of Lenin was altered to look like the leader of the Dark Side.
