A single mom becomes a dad for her son's school event.
Yvette Vasquez wasn’t about to let a little thing like being a woman get in the way of escorting her son to his school’s "Donuts With Dad" event.
The single mother didn’t want 12-year-old Elijah to feel left out, so she slapped on a fake moustache, donned a Texas Rangers baseball cap and slipped into a manly looking plaid shirt.

She then walked into the gathering of fathers with her proud son.
"It was all his idea," she told InsideEdition.com Tuesday. "He even sprayed cologne on me. He kept saying, 'walk like a man, mom. Walk like a man.'"
She had no idea how to do that, so she adopted a kind of limping swagger, to which her son said: 'Mom, stop. You don’t know what you’re doing.'"
The gender bender began last week when the mother of three pulled up to Sue Crouch Intermediate School in Fort Worth to drop off Elijah., and the parking lot was overflowing.
When she asked her sixth grader son what was going on, he responded: "You’re not supposed to be here. It’s Donuts With Dad day."
She offered to dress up and play the part of a dad for the event, and her son jumped at the chance.
“We've got 10 minutes before the bell rings,” he said.
So they raced home, where Elijah started throwing various articles of clothing at his mother, yelling, "put this on."
He had a collection of fake moustaches he’d purchased at a Dollar Store, his mom said, so she stuck one of those on her upper lip.
“I think I looked like one of the Mario brothers,” she said.

When they walked into school, Vasquez said she felt a little embarrassed. “I’d never done anything like that before.”
Most of the dads knew who she was because she’s very active at Elijah’s school, she said. Some broke into applause.
“All I was doing was being a parent for my son,” said Vasquez, who has two other sons, ages 9 and 6.
Vasquez says their father is not in the picture, but she doesn’t want her boys to ever feel they are missing something because of his absence, even if that means dressing like a man.
Photos she posted to Facebook have gone viral, with people around the world struck by her images.
“I’m so surprised,” she said, laughing. “I would have thought that pictures of trying to look pretty would have done better – not me trying to look like a man."
