Police Searching for 4 Suspects in Brutal Tourist Robbery in New Orleans' French Quarter

Police have asked for the public's help in the "robbery gone bad" in New Orleans.

Two tourists were brutally beaten during a robbery in the French Quarter that was captured on surveillance video, the New Orleans Police Department said.

The graphic footage shows four men attacking two victims from behind as they walked down a sidewalk. One victim appears to be slammed face-first into a brick walkway while the other is punched and pushed to the ground.

The assailants rifle through the men’s pockets as blood pools below one victim, the video appears to show. The attackers then run off.

One of the two men is in critical condition, authorities said. Both were visiting from Boston.

"If you look at the video it seems evident that they were attacked from behind," said police Cmdr. Nicholas Gernon. "They didn't see it coming and they did not fight back. They simply were victimized," he told reporters at a Monday press conference.

He called the incident a “robbery gone bad” and appealed for the public’s help in identifying the alleged attackers in the video.

"These people committed this crime out of the eyes of the police but they did not commit this crime out of the eyes of the community," said Superintendent Michael Harrison.
