Donna Todd and Joe Parker of Blue Springs, Mo., are planning to say “I do” during the total solar eclipse that happens to pass through their hometown.

“He loves the sun, I love the moon,” Todd told KCTV. “We both love the stars and planets, all that. It fits us perfectly.”

The pair got engaged on Christmas Day 2015 after having known each other for more than 20 years.

When they learned of the upcoming solar eclipse, they knew it would be the perfect day to hold their wedding.

Dressed in outfits that symbolize light and dark, Todd and Parker have meticulously scheduled the vows to happen just moments before the moon passes between the sun and the earth.

Then, wedding guests will be able to watch the eclipse using glasses the couple specially ordered for the big day.

“It’s going to be awesome,” Parker said. “I think it’s going to be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

They also plan to get matching eclipse-themed tattoos around their ring fingers to commemorate the big day.
