Meghan McCain's Father Doesn't Love Her New Book

Megan McCain and Michael Ian Black spoke to INSIDE EDITION about their book collaboration.

Meghan McCain's new book, America, You Sexy [expletive]: a Love Letter to Freedom, is getting a thumbs down from one big-time critic—her father, former presidental canidate, John McCain.

When INSIDE EDITION's Les Trent asked Meghan if her father had read the book, she replied, "He's read parts of it, and he knows about some of the more racier topics. It's not his favorite thing I've ever done."

Senator McCain apparently found the title downright offensive.

Meghan told Trent, "He said, ‘Why did you have to put the word [expletive] in the title? Is that appropriate?'"

Meghan co-wrote the book with comedian Michael Ian Black. Black is a democrat, Meghan is a born-and-bred Republican. In the book they debate the big political issues of the day.

"There are a lot of people in this country who are yelling at each other and not that many people who are talking to each other. We wanted to talk to each other, and to other Americans, and that's what we did," said Black.

Meghan, famous for her straight-talking personality, had harsh words for Karl Rove, the Republican guru who she claimed organized a smear campaign against her dad when he was running for president. She called him "a pathetic excuse for a human being."

She also came out in favor of legalizing marijuana.

She's still hoping her dad will come around, telling Trent, "I always remind him that he had quite the rebellious youth himself. If he didn't want me to go into politics, he shouldn't have brought me on the campaign trail as a 13-year-old girl!'"
