Robin Roberts' mother passed away just after news that Robin announced she was going to rush home to be by her mothers side. INSIDE EDITION has the details.
Sad news for Robin Roberts. Her beloved mom, Lucimarian died Thursday night at age 88.
The Good Morning America anchor announced on Wednesday that she was rushing home to be by her mom's side.
"I have to move up my schedule to be with my ailing mom," Robin said.
She made it just in time to say goodbye.
On her Facebook page, Robin wrote: "I finally made it home to MS late this afternoon to be with our beloved 88 year old mother.."
Robin's ABC colleagues paid tribute to Lucimarian Friday morning. Lucimarian was a pioneering educator, she was the first African-American woman to chair the Mississippi Board of Education. She was a woman who loved to sing and play piano.
ABC paid for a plane which carried a banner that sent a message of love and support for Robin that flew high in the skies over Manhattan Friday morning.
Her mother's death comes at a time of great stress for Robin. She started her medical leave to undergo a life saving bone marrow transplant.
Robin had this message for her fans on Facebook, "Grateful for your messages of love and support..grateful to be the daughter of Lucimarian Tolliver Roberts. Blessings. XO."
