What was it like to get in the ring with one of the accused Boston bombers? INSIDE EDITION spoke exclusively to a boxer who fought against Tamerlan Tsarnaev.
INSIDE EDITION has obtained exclusive video of the accused Boston Marathon bomber as a boxer.
Tamerlan Tsarnaev was competing in the 2010 Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions in Lowell, Massachusetts. He weighed 201 pounds and competed as a heavyweight. His opponent in the ring was 21-year-old Bryan Daniels.
Daniels told INSIDE EDITION, "No one had anything good to say about him."
Daniels fought Tsarnaev twice.
Although Tsarnaev was heavily favored to win, and did, Daniels says Tsarnaev was a poor sport.
Daniels said, "I went up to congratulate him, and I said ‘Hey, good fight’ and he blew it off and was like ‘Yeah well whatever, I didn't really even train for this, I was partying and like it was no big deal.’ It was like pouring salt in a wound, you know."
INSIDE EDITION’s Les Trent said, "He sounds like a jerk."
Daniels replied, "I know he felt my punches, and I’ve won the Golden Gloves twice since then, so I’m not worried about it."
Daniels competed as an amateur when he fought against Tsarnaev. He's now preparing to turn pro. He says he was shocked beyond belief when Tsarnaev was identified as the marathon bomber.
"A fighter is part of a creed. We’re gentlemen. Boxers have a code of sportsmanship. You don't hurt people outside the ring. Obviously, he didn't get the memo,” said Daniels.
