It was the spoof that's now being credited with carrying Obamacare across the finish line. A last-minute surge saw Obamacare reach its goal of seven million Americans enrolling.
Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius said the president's appearance on comedy show Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis put Obamacare over the top.
"We definitely saw the Galifianakis bump," said Sebelius. "The website traffic surged once the Between Two Ferns interview went on."
Buzzfeed political reporter Andrew Kaczynski told INSIDE EDITION, "Young people are their target demo. They need young people to sign up for the law, and to do that, you need to do what young people are watching."
In a Saturday Night Live skit over the weekend, the Obama character would do just about anything, including laying a kiss on Justin Bieber to boost enrollment.
Obamacare may have met its goal, but it ended the way it began, with a glitch on the troubled website that kept users from creating new accounts for more than an hour.
But in the end, it was mission accomplished for the enrollment process, thanks to the president's laugh-filled strategy.
