New questions are being raised about a masseuse's claim that Al Gore sexually assaulted her in his hotel suite in 2006.
The Portland Tribune newspaper says 54-year-old Molly Hagerty failed a lie detector test administered by a lawyer who later refused to take her as a client.
It says sources who knew her "questioned her perceptions and her memory."
Another shocking development—Hagerty told the newspaper the pants she claims were stained with DNA the night of the alleged attack were tested and there was no evidence of semen.
Gore emphatically denies any assault took place.
Mr. Gore's spokesman refuted the allegations when they were made public, saying, "further investigation into this matter will only benefit Mr. Gore."
