Hippo Escapes Zoo and Savors Freedom for 2 Minutes Before Returning on Its Own
After a couple minutes, she went back home.
A young hippopotamus stepped outside her zoo enclosure and entered the real world, only to discover it is a strange place.
A hippo at the Ramat Gan Safari in central Israel escaped the zoo last Wednesday night by slowly strolling out of an open gate and wandering around an area outside the facility.
But after just two minutes of freedom, the hippo thought better of her decision and returned to her enclosure through the same opened gate.
Surveillance footage shows the curious hippo casually strolling back into the zoo with a security guard cautiously following from behind.
Once the security guard realized the hippo was headed back home, he jumped for joy.
