Boat Ride Turns Fatal After Vessel Capsizes During Cave Tour

A boat ride with 29 people on board through dark man-made caverns near the Erie Canal turned deadly when the flat-bottom boat flipped over without warning. The boat was filled with local tourism industry workers. Upstate New York rescue workers used a sledgehammer to break into the cave where seven people were pulled to safety. However, a 60-year-old passenger drowned after getting trapped under the boat.
