8-Year-Old Girl Pulled From Near-Frozen Lake

An 8-year-old girl is breathing today due to a lifesaving water rescue by Vermont State Police. Body camera video taken Dec. 17, 2023 shows Trooper Michelle Archer running up to a partially frozen pond. Authorities say the little girl and her siblings were playing near the pond on private property when the thin ice broke, plunging two of them into the water. The 80-year-old homeowner was able to pull one of the kids out, but the other was too far for him to grab.
