California Distillery Uses Expired Bread to Create Vodka to Reduce Food Waste

Misadventure Vodka has a response to America’s problem with food waste. The San Diego-based distillery gets expired breads and sweets from a food bank. The food can’t be served to people because most of it is past its “use-by” date. But Misadventure, which calls itself the world’s first carbon-negative spirit, says the bread can still be used to make alcohol. The company says, “Each batch of our vodka diverts about 1,000 lbs of food waste from the landfills.”
