Children Plead With Judge Not to Send Parents to Prison for Deaths of Siblings

Two parents ignored barriers and warning signs to go joyriding in a flooded creek and three children drowned as a result. After their surviving kids pleaded the judge for leniency before their sentencing, the couple avoided prison time. Daniel Rawlings pleaded guilty to manslaughter and his wife Lacey pleaded guilty to child abuse after what started as a joyride ended in the deaths of two 5-year-olds and a 6-year-old. Family members celebrated the decision, but the prosecutor says it’s not justice.
