6000 Oak Trees Make Sweet Memorial Valentine

Hidden among the trees in southwest England is a living valentine. On his 112-acre farm, Winston Howes planted 6,000 oak trees. In the middle of those trees is a heart-shaped opening. The grove is a memorial to Howes’ wife of 33 years, Janet. She died in 1995 at the age of 50 from heart failure. Howes said he sits in his living valentine to reflect, and in the spring, he fills the heart-shaped hole with daffodils
