March 4, 2022

Florida students and parents rallied against HB 1557, the Parental Rights in Education Bill, widely known as the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill. ‘Don’t Say Gay’ would restrict teachers in public schools from “classroom discussion about gender identity and sexual orientation.” HB 1557 has gotten approval from the Florida House of Representatives. It will now go to the full Senate floor for a vote. If it is passed into law, ‘Don’t Say Gay’ could go into effect in time for start of the 2022-23 school year.
