Mira Ptacin Entered Camp Etna a Spiritualism Skeptic. What Made Her a Believer?

Several years ago, a friend suggested to writer Mira Ptacin that she visit a community of Spiritualists living in rural Maine. Camp Etna is a mostly seasonal town populated by mediums and members of the Spiritualist church. Spiritualism was extremely popular in the 19th century. Its adherents believe people have the ability to communicate with the dead. Ptacin turned her experiences into the book, “The In-Betweens: The Spiritualists, Mediums and Legends of Camp Etna.”
