Schools Scramble for Food as Supply Chain Leaves Lunch in Limbo

Donnette Worthy is the director of child nutrition for a 19,000-student school district in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, but she’s scrambling through the grocery store like a busy mom running errands. Due to supply chain holdups, her school district is just one of many that’s having major issues getting enough supplies to feed kids at school. It’s not getting better anytime soon, as container ships full of paper plates and plastic forks and knives stretch down the coasts, anchored and waiting to be unloaded.
