Will Some Hotel Front-Desk Clerks Give Out Guest's Room Key Without Checking ID?

Cheri Marchionda says she was raped after a man received her hotel room's key card during her stay at an Iowa hotel. To test the safety at hotels, Inside Edition investigated whether it was easy to get a key to someone else's hotel room. The hotel where Marchionda says she was attacked, say they are now under new management and have a strict policy to only provide keys to registered guests. At different hotels, an Inside Edition investigative producer was able to get a key card to another guest's room without having to show or verify his I.D. In separate statements, those hotels say they take the safety and security of their guests very seriously, adding they took immediate action to address the matter which includes retraining their front desk staff to ensure this mistake never happens again.
