R. Kelly's Lawyer Says Lady Gaga Only Cut Ties With Singer to Win an Oscar

Lady Gaga said she pulling her music with the singer, who's been accused of sexual assault by multiple women.

Lady Gaga’s public renunciation of R. Kelly isn't going over so well his lawyer.

"I think Lady Gaga is doing what she thinks is politically correct so that she can preserve whatever chance she has of winning an Academy Award," Steve Greenberg told Inside Edition in defense of his client.

Gaga snagged a Golden Globe for Best Original Song for "A Star Is Born,” and could be up for awards when the Oscar nominations are announced later this month.

Earlier this week, Gaga announced she was pulling her 2013 collaboration with Kelly from streaming services and apologized for working with him on “Do What U Want (With My Body),” on her "Artpop" album.

R. Kelly's lawyer says allegations swirled around Kelly well before Gaga collaborated with him.

"When she wanted him to do a song in 2013 she had no problem. I have spoken to him about it. He said she acted perfectly friendly, in fact, overly friendly toward him. It's hypocritical,” Greenberg said.

R. Kelly has denied all allegations of physical abuse, emotional abuse, and sexual misconduct.

"There is no proof of these allegations because they are not true, there is no evidence,” Greenberg told Inside Edition.
