'Serial Killer' Husky Caught Red-Pawed on Surveillance Video
The dog's owner is facing misdemeanor charges.
A dog’s owner has been slapped with misdemeanor charges after her 4-year-old husky went on an animal-killing spree at an adjacent farm.
Mackenzie Morton’s dog, Nikita, was caught on video trespassing through a neighbor’s property and slaughtering the animals on the premises.
"I just feel horrible," Morton said.
Trip Kiss, who runs a petting zoo for kids that features numerous farm animals, told Inside Edition he was alerted by his Ring security system to something suspicious on his property.
To Kiss’ surprise, it was Nikita, with a rabbit in her mouth, passing across the screen.
"We witnessed the husky using our picnic bench to jump into an enclosure that was nearby," Kiss said.
Kiss said when he began to chase the husky to retrieve the rabbit, she thought it was a game.
The entire killing spree lasted four hours and during that time Nikita killed 10 animals, including 2 rabbits, 5 chickens, 2 ducks, and a turkey. Nikita also killed 17 chickens in another neighbor’s yard, making the total number of kills to 27.
As brutal as the killing spree was, Kiss says he doesn’t want Nikita to be euthanized.
"It is a dog; it's a husky," he said. “It has a prey instinct, they kill and there was no one there to stop it."
He is fighting for the dog to be turned over to a rescue group, Arctic Rescue.
Morton has been charged with misdemeanor charges of allowing her pet to run loose.
Nikita, on the other hand, is in quarantine. Morton said she wants her dog back and intends to provide her with proper training.
"I never meant for any of this to happen," she said.
