Tallest Man in England, at 7 Feet, 7 Inches, Gets His First Suit

Paul “Tiny” Sturgess, 30, has never been able to find a tailor willing to make him a suit.

It’s not easy to get a suit with a good fit, especially if you’re the tallest man in England.

Paul “Tiny” Sturgess, 30, who now lives in Loughborough, finally got his first suit, custom-made to fit his 7 foot, 7 inch frame.

“I have never had a suit in my life,” Sturgess told Caters News. "I have always struggled a lot finding someone to make me a suit. I reached out to a few people but no one was up for it."

He got serious about his search when he was invited to his friend’s wedding. During previous formal events, Sturgess said he often had to find alternative, less black tie-appropriate options.

“I went to my best friend’s wedding with trousers and a shirt,” he said. “I was still dressed smartly, but everyone needs a suit."

Sturgess finally tracked down a tailor in London who was happy to put together the labor-intensive piece.

The custom three-piece suit ended up requiring twice as much fabric as a standard men’s suit and costed nearly $2,000.

“I am very grateful, especially since I have been struggling to find someone to do the job,” he said.

Sturgess was once a Harlem Globetrotter, and was named the tallest basketball player in the world by Guinness World Records in 2011.

“When I lived in the [United States], it was so much easier,” he said. “I did a lot of shopping online and there are more sizes available.”

Since moving back to England, Sturgess has become a motivational speaker.
